Our fully approved online Boatsafe course enables you to cut down classroom time, allowing you flexibility to complete the theory at home at your own pace, and allows you to move straight to the practical training and assessment components of your boating course with us

- Once deemed competent take your Statement of Competency to any Queensland Transport and Main Roads Office (pay their prescribed fee) to have it endorsed on your driving licence.

DID YOU KNOW?
In Queensland, you must have a recreational marine licence to drive any boat that has an engine power greater than 6hp or [4.5kw]
To then drive a personal watercraft or jet ski, you must have a recreational marine licence and a personal watercraft licence (PWC).
Licence to Boat is a specialist and people-friendly operation based on the Sunshine Coast. We offer first-class Boat and Jetski Licence courses from our Maroochydore base. Our aim to be the best recreational marine boat safe licencing provider in QLD, maybe even the whole world! Licence to Boat is a fully accredited Maritime Safety Queensland and Transport and Main Roads Boatsafe approved training provider, our trainer Mike holds a current commercial marine licence and is fully qualified to provide you with a comprehensive, safe and enjoyable experience.
Head trainer Mike
Mike, (with his wife Laura) is the owner and head trainer for Licence to Boat. He has a passion for teaching boating and marine skills. His core belief is that people learn best when they are relaxed and happy!! Having many years of training experience to draw on, he has a few tricks up his sleeve to help make your experience a little easier!
Mike has been on or around boats all his life either for work or for pleasure. He spent years working in marine tourism in the Whitsundays and on the Sunshine Coast. Mike has professional experience on fast craft, single and twin outboard, sailing and PWCs.
Mike’s qualifications:
- QLD Unrestricted Coxswains
- Marine radio operator’s licence
- SSI Open Water Dive Instructor
- Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment
- Senior First Aid
Maroochydore location
Licence to Boat courses is run on the Maroochy River, offering a safe, fun and practical training environment. The commencement point for our courses is in Driftwood Restaurant and Bar at Ingenia Rivershore Resort, it’s just 1 min from the Bradman Ave, Sunshine Coast Motorway turn-off, making it easily accessible from surrounding areas like Mooloolaba, Noosa, Caloundra and many more!
From our base at Rivershore Resort near Maroochydore, we offer Jet ski and Boat licence courses accessible to the whole of the Sunshine Coast.
There is parking available at the resort and refreshments are available from the onsite cafe/restaurant.
